The mission of the Analog Research Lab (ARL) is to create inspiring and thought-provoking projects about
the world and our place in it. ARL supports creative projects from diverse voices that spur
constructive and critical conversations at Facebook through hands-on processes and analog mediums.
(POST)ER is a screen-printed poster series designed for Facebook ARL, as part of the Design residency programme of Facebook ARL (APAC). This series is
posted in Facebook offices globally with the aim to foster a more creative and better workplace culture. As a nod to the
topic of workplace culture, this series explores the nuances of workplace conversations and data/information sensitivity based on this premise: if employees are discouraged to talk about sensitive work matters
in their personal lives, what would happen in the reverse scenario - can personal conversations, words of care, in the workplace be encouraged? The resulting 3-part poster series carries 3 phrases that wordplays work vernacular with personal messages - 'life' with 'like', 'moment' with 'comment' and 'care' with 'share'.
The art direction is inspired by the typesetting process of letterpress, the oldest analog printing method. Using Helvetica Neue and a set of rotated Caslon Old Face letters to imitate
the forms of other letters, the type treatment highlights the limited but intimate control that a typesetter has with the analog printing processes. The title of the work '(POST)ER' also
aims to highlight the loss of the meaning of the word 'post' in the digital and social media vernacular, despite sharing etymological roots with the word 'poster', its analog counterpart.
