Delineate

is an exhibition featuring renowned Nanyang pioneer/avant-garde artist Chen Wen Hsi and visual artist Tristan Lim. The exhibition explores the contrasts and similarities in the practices of both artists from distinct eras and of disparate influences; drawing a line between two different approaches in expression. Shown at Not Gallery, Singapore.

The visual identity explores a line splitting two parts — a split, a faultline, a crack. A crack not only delineates two sides of a schism, it also signifies those two edges belonging together. While Chen’s works are avant-garde in nature and explored in paintings, Lim’s explorations dwell within digital spaces. This misalignment is captured in printed collaterals — by the title which is never printed, existing only visually between gaps of two pieces of sticker, ever shifting; suspended between idea and form.
